![]() ![]() Now the rank of Admiral is pretty much consistent throughout all star wars media, bar rogue one in which "admiral gorin's rank plaque is represented by a single bar of six blue squares" The rank of Grand Moff (six blue squares above three red squares on the left handside and three yellow squares on the right handside) Īnd the rank of Grand Admiral (two sets of three blue squares on the left handside and one set of three yellow squares above one set of three red squares on the right handside) The most iconic plaques being the rank of Admiral (six red squares above six blue squares) , So, what I've gathered from my research of Imperial rank insignia's, is that there are several ways of determining the rank of an imperial officer in the star wars universe.īefore I begin, I just want to say that i'll be ignoring the rank insignia's of the members of the Joint chiefs (seen in ANH), this is mainly due to the fact that ANH was the very first star wars movie and with many of the ranks (such as Grand Admiral, Governor, Taskmaster, etc.) being made and invented long after ANH, many of the inconsistencies that I have encountered surrounding the topic of Imperial rank insignias, stem from the bloopers or constraints in fliming the OT.įirstly and the most obvious way to determine an Imperial officer's rank is from the officer's rank plaque. ![]() Whilst Imperial ranking insignia and rank plaques are VERY inconsistent across all cannon material,(due to costume design constraints and mistakes in the OT) this hasn't detered me from continuing my investigation on this extremely interesting topic of Star Wars lore. I've been re-watching some rebels clips on youtube and whilst also being a WWII enthusiast, i've become very interested in the Galatic Imperial Ranking system, espeically officer rank plaques, code cylinders and patterns. ![]()
